Hospitality The Tourism/Hospitality Sector is Ireland's largest indigenous employer with opportunities across a wide range of providers. The sector like many others encountered difficulties due to the pandemic, but it is an incredibly resilient sector with ability to recover quickly and re-position offering a new range of exciting employment opportunities. Studying Hospitality or Hotel Management in GMIT will equip you with advanced knowledge of business operations while learning the necessary technical and interpersonal skills which are transferrable into any business. Many of our alumni are leading the industry in Ireland and around the world, and these links allow us offer exceptional work placements of which students undertake one in Ireland and a second in an international destination. Because of this training and valuable real-world experience, our graduates are widely sought throughout the industry.
Event Management and PR When studying for a business degree in Event Management with PR in GMIT, students will gain critical insights into this dynamic industry through experiential learning which includes field trips, industry guest speakers and work placements both in Ireland and in international destinations. Students will have the opportunity to create and plan events and learn to work in teams, all the while developing core skills required to work in future management or entrepreneurial roles. Studying in Galway affords students the opportunity to gain real world experience with many high-profile events, such as The Galway International Arts Festival, Seafest, Macnas parades and many more exciting events.
Studying Culinary Arts in GMIT, within any of our related courses will allow you develop an understanding of the science behind food and the importance of creating good food for our planet, our health and nutrition. You will learn about food sustainability and how you can be a part of a growing movement of culinary professionals working for the betterment of food production and service. You will learn how to develop communication and leadership skills for future management roles as well as core technical skills required in the culinary world. Our culinary students have the opportunity to participate in masterclasses with some of the world’s leading Michelin star chefs and work very closely with many of Ireland’s top culinary professionals. Interactive learning and field trips are a key feature of our learning environment and this coupled with paid work placements gives our students a distinct advantage for future well paid employment opportunities.
