The Careers and Employability Centre offers a modern service to all our students and recent graduates. We are committed to the employability of our students, and we work closely with all employers. We are dedicated to equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and personal attributes to achieve their career goals. We use

the most up to date IT systems to support our work with students in terms of their employability.

Counselling The GMIT Counselling Service is a free con fi dential service for students. The service is there to help and support a student with any area of concern be that academic, personal, fi nancial, mental health or otherwise. Depending on the area of concern, the service can offer once off or short-term (max. six sessions) counselling support. For further information or an appointment please contact the GMIT Student Services Of fi ce on +353 91 742118 , or Email: counselling@gmit.ie Chaplaincy The Chaplaincy assists and supports students and staff by providing pastoral care and spiritual support, helping to build a sense of community and having a concern for the general well-being of all, irrespective of religious conviction or belief. The chaplaincy supports students and staff in a time of crisis, tragedy and acute life issues. It works closely with Student Services, the Students’ Union and a variety of clubs, societies, committees and working groups regarding the safety, health, well-being and progress of students.

Student Health Unit The Student Health Unit provides on campus medical care and health promotion information to registered students. The service is nurse-led and provides acute illness and emergency supports if you become ill while in college and cannot attend your own GP. A doctor service is available on campus fi ve mornings a week. Students at the Mayo, Mountbellew and Letterfrack campuses attend a local GP nominated by the Institute. Health and Wellbeing Supports GMIT offers wellbeing supports for students via text and online which can be accessed at any time of the day or night. These supports are 50808, a free 24/7 mental health text service, Being Well, Living Well Online Toolkit, SilverCloud, a mental health intervention platform and Participate, an online self-help tool to tackle social anxiety. We also have the Cubbie Sensory Hub, a sensory system that promotes participation and inclusion for all students with sensory processing needs. It is also a space where all students can relax, refocus and reenergise.
