New Common Points Scale from 2017 The new scale will apply to all applicants applying to CAO on the basis of their Leaving Certi fi cate examination results (1985 – present). Applicants presenting 2017 Leaving Certi fi cate results will be scored as per Table 1. Applicants presenting Leaving Certi fi cate results from 1992 – 2016 will have scores for grades adjusted to conform to the new scale (Table 2).
