Why Study Teacher Education at GMIT?

These dynamic and exciting courses allow students to develop a range of creative, technical, digital, and pedagogical skills relevant to post-primary teaching. GMIT academic and technical staff are passionate and experienced and will support and guide you through the courses. The teaching facilities available to students at GMIT are highly specialised and include spacious Art and Design Studios and machine rooms with a range of computer-controlled equipment. Throughout these courses, students spend time on School Placement and get to experience teaching in supportive post-primary classrooms and environments. GMIT has adopted modern and innovative learning and teaching methods to ensure that graduates are well equipped to become excellent teachers. The two teaching courses are: Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Education (Design, Graphics and Construction) • Graduates teach Leaving Certificate subjects Construction Studies and DCG. • Location: First two years in GMIT Letterfrack and then two years in GMIT Galway, CCAM.
