The Cultural Pulse of Europe NUI Galway works in partnership with the city (the European Capital of Culture in 2020) to encourage creativity. The launch of the O’Donoghue Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance in 2017 provided a new home for a state-of-the-art 120-seat theatre and learning space on campus. This space was voted the public’s choice for best new Irish building in the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland Irish Architecture Awards (2017). Galway has been ranked the best small city in Europe for cultural vibrancy, creative economy, and its having an enabling environment.
