Student experience

Simone Hanbury Smaller classes helped me to build relationships with the lecturers and when starting a new career made making a relationship with future management and other professionals easier. A standout benefit of studying at GMIT is the data analytic modules. Software programmes such as, Power BI, SQL and Rstudios gives a GMIT student an edge

over their peers. All in all, studying at GMIT really helped me in getting my ideal job as a Bank Executive for the Registry of Credit Unions at the Central Bank of Ireland.

Angelo Johnson The skills I developed in GMIT have really helped me within my current role as a financial analyst with HID Global. I am responsible for revenue reporting, sales forecasting and trend analysis of all transactions that occur within my division. I have daily interactions with other business areas such as channel sales and production, in order to develop

effective strategies to meet company objectives/growth initiatives. A lot of the data driven tasks I undertake mirror some of the coursework I completed in GMIT. I also make use of the accounting principles taught by lecturers when looking at P&L statements. The life skills I gained from the course have also been of huge benefit to me. In third and final year we had to present nearly every week so when I am presenting a deck (a short presentation) I no longer feel the pressure and I am confident in my ability to explain complex information in a simple and effective manner. GMIT equipped me with the skills I needed to secure a job within a highly competitive industry. Lecturers gave great advice regarding interview techniques, and the Career’s Centre and CV clinics were also a massive help.
