Why Study Business?

Business and related subjects (such as the ‘FAME’ group – finance, accounting, management, and economics) are among the most popular fields of study at third level worldwide. You might have some vague ideas about why this is the case – business graduates are in high demand worldwide, business touches on pretty much every aspect of modern human society, careers with a business degree are diverse and often highly paid. Your education is about so much more than your current job or aspirations. A broad range of core and elective subjects means you can not only explore subject areas in depth, but test and develop new talents and areas of expertise. Our programmes equip emerging leaders with the knowledge, research insights and personal effectiveness skills to make an impact on business, the public sector, and not-for-profit sectors; to manage yourself, your team, your function and your organisation. Our programmes have been designed to help you stand out from the crowd - providing a degree which covers the latest business management, accounting, information systems, marketing, rural agri-business, entrepreneurship, finance and economics thinking but are rooted in 'real-world' knowledge and experience. All of this is geared towards helping you to succeed in your future academic or professional career. During your business degree you will develop a broad knowledge of business operations, as well as gaining targeted skills in your specific field, such as customers, markets, finance, operations, strategy, business policy, communications, and IT. You’ll typically also be challenged to explore these fields within an international context.
