New Common Points Scale from 2017 The new scale will apply to all applicants applying to CAO on the basis of their Leaving Certificate examination results (1985 – present). Applicants presenting 2017 Leaving Certificate results will be scored as per Table 1. Applicants presenting Leaving Certificate results from 1992 – 2016 will have scores for grades adjusted to conform to the new scale (Table 2).

There is a specific quota of places reserved on nursing degree programmes and 5% of places are reserved for QQI FET award holders on courses with limited places.
