What to expect

Student experience

Katie Hall (Final Year Student) I would really recommend this course to anyone who has a keen interest in sports and science. Although it requires hard work in first year adjusting to new subjects and a jam- packed timetable, it’s worth it. The lecturers are extremely friendly and are approachable if you have any queries or questions. The course has a mixture of formal lectures and practical laboratory sessions. The course

size is small which gives you the opportunity to really get to know your classmates. My favourite aspect of this course so far has been our weekly visits to Loughgeorge to do our Sports and Exercise lab. Loughgeorge is the centre for the Galway Footballers and is a state-of-the-art training centre. One of my most recent highlights has been an internship as a Strength and Conditioning coach for GMIT’s new Falcon Athletic Development Program. Here I was able to gain hands on experience with athletes and was able to apply the knowledge that I had gained from my course and apply it to this real-life setting. Heading into my final year I am looking forward to completing my work placement where I can gain valuable industry experience that will help me in my future career in the Sports Industry.
