GMIT Leerfrack The national Centre for excellence in Furniture Design & Technology
Basking in the beauty of Connemara in Co. Galway, Letterfrack is a small village beside Connemara National Park, Diamond Hill and close to Kylemore Abbey. Visitors and residents are drawn to Letterfrack by the stunning scenery and peaceful atmosphere. Students can avail of regular bus links to Galway (two hours by bus) and are usually able to live quite close to the campus in self-catering accommodation.
GMIT Letterfrack campus is regarded both nationally and internationally as a leading provider of third level programmes related to furniture, wood products and teacher education (Design Graphics and Construction). The campus currently has 210 students, studying five different degree programmes in its state-of-the-art workshop facilities with the most advanced machinery and computer technology. GMIT Letterfrack has links to major furniture design and manufacturing companies around the globe, allowing students to avail of Work Placement opportunities with leaders in furniture design and manufacturing. Graduates are recognised for their innovative, creative and responsive approach to projects. They frequently win, and are shortlisted for, national and international awards that influence and develop the furniture industry.
