of having a business degree with practical work and learn experience as part of the course was especially attractive, along with the flexible modules offered as part of the College experience. The opportunities afforded with the organised work experience placements are invaluable. I was especially fortunate to have worked at the 5* Red Carnation Ashford Castle Estate for Year 1 placement, and at one of London’s finest 5* Hotels, The Berkeley in Knightsbridge , where I gained invaluable experience in both properties. The obvious skills obtained along with the sense of self- awareness and independence gained from such experiences, are character building and for life, and were all enabled as part of the course. Currently, I am almost through Year 3 examinations and back working with Red Carnation at Ashford Castle. I fully intend to return to Year 4 at GMIT, and I am fully committed to a career in the industry. I am excited about the opportunities in the industry, including international travel, employability and a fast- paced industry.

Students may select elective modules each semester to enhance their learning and skills.
